Breastfeeding – a challenge for the new mother
Breastfeeding is something only a mother can do for her baby. Breast milk is the best food for a newborn—it provides fats, proteins, vitamins, and antibodies, and it strengthens the baby’s immune system. Breastfeeding should be a pleasant experience for both the mother and her child. In the first days after birth, however, it is normal to experience mild discomfort and nipple sensitivity when the baby latches on. This discomfort is common and should subside as breastfeeding continues, with the process becoming more and more pleasant as the weeks go by.
Unfortunately, sometimes the mild discomfort turns into more intense pain, and breastfeeding becomes ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE for the mother. This problem is common among breastfeeding women and may be due to several factors, such as incorrect positioning of the baby during breastfeeding and, as a result, improper latching, infection, or the mother’s ongoing adaptation to this new skill.
Once inflamed, the nipples can lead to difficulties with lactation, reduced breast milk supply, and even early weaning. That is why it is extremely important to avoid this unpleasant situation.

Here are several key approaches that can help with this:
Treating the nipples with skin-moisturizing oils already during pregnancy, so they are prepared for their new role.
Proper latching of the baby. Incorrect latching is a main cause of painful and sore nipples. Babies nurse by pressing their mouths around the areola, not on the nipple itself. To ensure proper latching, it is necessary to provide a comfortable breastfeeding position for both the mother and the baby. The best way to achieve this is for the mother to try different positions until she finds the most comfortable one. If she is unable to cope with this challenge on her own, our advice is to seek help from a breastfeeding specialist.
Preparing the breasts before breastfeeding is also important. They can be cleaned with a cotton pad soaked in boiled water. The use of soap is not recommended, as it removes the natural oils and dries out the skin, which, combined with prolonged and improper suckling, creates a predisposition for the formation of cracks.
If the baby’s latch and position have been corrected but there are injuries or cracking that do not heal, you can rely on Terazal herbal oil spray. With its composition of 100% natural products, including natural fats and pure herbal extracts, the oil is exceptionally suitable for treating damaged, delicate, and sensitive breast tissue. Its active ingredients improve skin hydration and support rapid recovery, which will help every mother easily cope with inflamed and sore nipples, so she can fully devote herself to her new role and provide the best possible start for her child.
